A few weeks ago my wife Colleen and I were walking our dog on a busy street when a family of 5 with 2 dogs approached from the other direction on the narrow sidewalk.  As we wanted to make room for them, Colleen suggested that we cross the street to get out of the way. It was a logical suggestion; however, I vetoed the idea as I didn’t want to cross four lanes of traffic.  Instead, I decided to go up on a hill to get out of the way. As I climbed up the pine straw covered hill, I began to slip as if I were walking on ice. Instead of giving up and moving down to safer ground, I decided to plow through the slippage by going horizontal on the hill.  After a few slippery steps, I rolled my right ankle and came crashing to the ground all the while hearing “pop, pop, pop.” Having rolled my ankle in the past, I knew this was bad and certainly much more painful. 

After waiting for my wife to get the car in order to drive me home, I propped up the ankle and began icing.  Unfortunately, the pain wouldn’t go away. I realized that I’d have to seek medical attention. As it was Sunday at 2pm, my doctor’s office was closed.  I was in a dilemma due to the day and time and therefore only had two choices: the ER or urgent care.
